Threshold n. - The point where a new era or experience begins.
The seeds for what was to become Monkey Puzzle’s first New Year’s Eve event were planted in early October. True to form, the tribe harnessed some post-Burn momentum and began to plot their next venture with great enthusiasm. What started out as a simple plan to gather a small group of folks to celebrate the passing of an incredible year quickly turned into one of the largest and most elaborate productions the group has ever undertaken. Much time and thought was put into developing the accoutrements of the show – very little was overlooked. Music? Check. Lighting? Check. Monkeys? Check. Fortunately, the gamble paid off as over 1000 people showed up to see what the fuss was all about!
The video showcases the collaboration between some amazingly talented individuals in the Portland community who brought out their biggest guns for the countdown. And though the infamous Phoenix Fest burn barrel flew the coup at Threshold, its flight from Monkey Puzzle was considered to be a fitting end to an amazing year together and symbolic of the potential for grand experiences to rise from the ashes in 2007.
